Peace, Patience, and Perseverance

Our team mission theme has been the fruits of the Spirit and how they are developed in our lives.  As we moved more rocks today, in 25+C heat, we worked on perseverance, one rock at a time!  When I was tempted to complain, my son looked at me with the most joyous smile I've seen on his face in awhile.  That smile reminded me of how blessed I am and it strengthened me to keep going.  I felt a new energy in my step and I made a point to smile at my team mates to encourage them.  As I reflect on that work project and our diligent response to it, I realize that the trials in life are very similar.  They feel heavy, sharp, and overwhelming, but if we turn our faces to the Lord, He smiles and lifts our burden giving us a spirit of strength and perseverance to tackle life one step at a time.
The team did a great job and we moved from the project to the school to share in worship with the children.  The Holy Spirit was very present there and our spirits were refreshed.
Our time with the children in teaching the fruit of the Spirit, developed those fruits in us.
We had a soccer game with the teachers after school.  Our more energetic team members did a great job showing that Canadians can play soccer.  It was a close and competitive game with a lot of laughs.  Afterward we had dinner together and got to know each other a little better.  It was very neat to be able to see the fellowship cross language and culture barriers.  We made lasting connections and blessed each other with testimonies and gratitude for the work each of us were doing for the Kingdom.  The teachers, many of whom graduated from the Impact schools, have poured their lives and love into the children and the proof of that is the steady growth of the children and the love they shared with us.  That is the true fruit of the vision of Impact Ministries.
We rested that night with much joy and peace in our hearts.
